Ocean County police warn residents to not approach the venomous, and endangered rattlesnakes that are popping up in the area.

NBC10 Philadelphia says photos of Timber rattlesnakes were published on Manchester Township police's Facebook after sighting in Roosevelt City.

Best piece of advice: DO NOT TOUCH THEM!

Timber rattlesnakes are passive animals, but they will get defensive if they feel threatened. And, in their eyes, humans are seen as predators.

They're popping up the most in Roosevelt City, Fox Hollow and Timber Green. So if you live in these areas, stay a safe distance away!

If you spot one, police say to call 1-877-WARN DEP to talk to a biologist. If you’re bitten, call 911 immediately.
