We've been closely watching a construction project on E. White Horse Pike in Galloway for months. Now that a structure is finally taking shape, it may not be at all what we thought was being built.

Ah, the rumor mill. It can really get the mind going. I live in Galloway, and the minute I spotted an architect trailer next to the CVS on White Horse Pike at Jimmie Leeds Road, I began to speculate what the space was being cleared for.

Slowly, over time, it became evident that quite a bit of real estate was going to be involved, so I thought maybe houses or condos. Then, I noticed some banter on social media that the project was for a new Chick-fil-A or a Wendy's, which really got me excited.

I had been away on vacation the last week and a half, and when I returned to Galloway I noticed the metal framework of a building that looks far too large and rectangular to be a freestanding fast food restaurant. It looks more like a shopping strip. That's not to say SOME sort of eatery couldn't be part of it, but it's clearly not a Chick-fil-A or Wendy's.

A sign on the property is recruiting the space for retail and restaurant, so I don't think it's medical offices or anything like that. And it's not to say, because SO much land had been razed, that more than just a strip mall could be eventually be getting built. It is a prime piece of real estate, after all, with great exposure.
