Passenger Killed in Wrong-Way Accident in Somerdale, NJ Identified

A Lindenwold, New Jersey man who was killed in a wrong-way accident on the White Horse Pike Thursday night has been identified.

Wrong-Way Crash in Somerdale, New Jersey Leaves One Dead

The crash happened Thursday night at the intersection of White Horse Pike and Cedar Avenue in the Somerdale section of Camden County, NJ, Patch.com reports.

51-year-old Gerald Norum, of Blackwood, was reportedly driving a vehicle that crossed over into the eastbound lanes of the White Horse Pike, striking an oncoming vehicle being driven by a 34-year-old woman.

The car that got hit was carrying the driver and four passengers, ranging in age from 39 to 12 years old. All were taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden where the eldest passenger died.

Camden County Prosecutor's Office has released the identity of the passenger who lost his life in the accident. He is 39-year-old Walter Lopez-Arevalo who lived in nearby Lindenwold.

Driver Who Crashed into Oncoming Car in Somerdale, NJ Was Intoxicated, Police Say

Authorities say that at the time of the accident, Gerald Norum was legally drunk. He was arrested and now faces six charges including DWI (driving while intoxicated) and 2nd degree assault by auto, according to Somerdale Police Department on Facebook.
