Word on the street in Gloucester Township, New Jersey is that a proposed new ShopRite store is not only moving forward, but also going to be much larger than shoppers expected.
There's a New ShopRite Coming to Gloucester Township?
Yes. It will take over the old Kmart store that's been vacant for several years.
This new Zallie-owned ShopRite supermarket will be located in the Cherrywood Plaza next to Dollar Tree and Planet Fitness.
The Fate of Laurel Hill ShopRite
One this new, more modern ShopRite store is up and running, the ShopRite currently located off Laurel Road and Blackwood-Clementon Road will reportedly close.
When Will the New ShopRite in Clementon Open?
Although the store won't be opening any time soon, its proposal is due to appear back in front of the Gloucester Township planning board on Tuesday, January 23rd.
How Big Will the New Gloucester Township ShopRite Be?
According to Mark at 42 Freeway, who recently got an update, ShopRite at Cherrywood Plaza off Blackwood-Clementon Road could reportedly be a big as 100,000 square feet or more inside. That would make it nearly double the size of Laurel Hill ShopRite, and 40 percent bigger than originally expected.
The initial speculation was that ShopRite Clementon would utilize about 75,000 square feet.
Now, it's rumored to have 98,000 feet of space with another 12,000 square feet proposed as an upper level, 42 Freeway reports.
A new ShopRite store that opened recently in Woolwich Twp. is large but slightly smaller than what Clementon shoppers can expect in the future.
