New Jersey State Trooper Forfeits Job in Plea Deal
On Monday 32-year-old Eric Richardson pleaded guilty to using FBI data illegally to get personal information about a motorist.
The State Trooper was accused of asking women he pulled over to go out on dates with him. As part of a plea deal to wrap up the case Richardson has agreed to forfeit his job.
Richardson's friend was asked to do a "driver inquiry" on a woman to see if any red flags came up on things like her driver history and if any warrants were out or of any drug activity.
Richardson, of Camden, pulled over female drivers and threatened them to be arrested unless they gave him their phone numbers.
After being charged last year in May, Richardson was suspended from his position as a State Trooper.
When he is sentenced in August, prosecutors will recommend to the court that he should receive a probation term.
