Less than four weeks since the deadly school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, gunfire erupted today at a High School in California.

A 16-year old male student of Taft Union High School in the Kern County town of Taft, about 100 miles north of downtown Los Angeles, open fire with a shotgun, critically wounding a fellow student, according to Reuters.

According to CNN.com, a teacher and campus supervisor talked down the gunman after he shot at one student and aimed at another.  The teacher reported seeing several shotgun shells in the shooter's pockets.

The lives of 20 children were taken December 14, 2012 at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut when Adam Lanza open fire.  He also killed several faculty members and his mother before turning the gun on himself.
