Put Down the Raw Cookie Dough Says CDC
Here we go again, the war against raw cookie dough continues. First, they told us we could get Salmonella from raw eggs. The response? Pure geniuses created raw cookie dough sans eggs. Raw cookie dough places sprung up everywhere and you could buy it from most stores. Now, they are continuing to wage this war and attempt to ruin our lives.
The CDC is now warning people about the dangers of consuming raw flour. Yes, raw flour can make you just as sick as raw eggs. If the CDC thinks this is going to stop me from eating a few bites of raw cookie dough while I bake Christmas cookies they are seriously mistaken.
In a recent report the CDC stated, "Flour is typically a raw agricultural product. This means it hasn’t been treated to kill germs like Escherichia coli (E. coli). Harmful germs can contaminate grain while it’s still in the field or at other steps as flour is produced." In the same report the CDC explained that back in 2016 sixty-three people became ill from E. coli, which was linked to raw flour.
The report included a list of things to do and not to do when baking. They say to not use raw dough in ice cream, do not use cake mix in milkshakes, do not let children play with raw dough, and make sure you wash your hands after handling raw dough and/or batter.
