The weight loss company Jenny Craig is going out of business after 30 years and has permanently closed its 16 New Jersey centers, three of which are in South Jersey.

According to NBC News, the California-based Jenny Craig, which started in 1983, was unable to 'secure additional financing' to continue operations.

Just last week, the company had reportedly warned of coming layoffs with plans to close many of its brick-and-mortar weight loss centers and turns its focus toward digital products and told employees, "We will have more details to share in the coming weeks as our plans are solidified.”

I logged onto jennycraig.com today and it's still up and running. It appears you can still be quoted on pricing and sign up for a meal plan.

From pre-packaged meals to nutritional plans to counseling, Jenny Craig built an empire on helping people lose and maintain weight.
