Jenny Craig, with 3 Weight Loss Centers in South Jersey, Goes Out of Business After 30 Years
The weight loss company Jenny Craig is going out of business after 30 years and has permanently closed its 16 New Jersey centers, three of which are in South Jersey.
Just last week, the company had reportedly warned of coming layoffs with plans to close many of its brick-and-mortar weight loss centers and turns its focus toward digital products and told employees, "We will have more details to share in the coming weeks as our plans are solidified.”
I logged onto jennycraig.com today and it's still up and running. It appears you can still be quoted on pricing and sign up for a meal plan.
From pre-packaged meals to nutritional plans to counseling, Jenny Craig built an empire on helping people lose and maintain weight.
Among its 500 franchised locations across the country are three weight loss centers in the South Jersey area, on Route 73 in Marlton, Almonesson Road in Deptford, and Route 70 in Lakewood.
Nearly 1,000 people are now out of a job, according to NBC News. The last day on the job for store employees was Tuesday, while those at the corporate level will end their tenure on Friday, May 5th, Patch.com reports.
We'll see if more announcements come regarding the status of the company's website and app.
FYI, founder and entrepreneur Jenny Craig is 90 years old.
