If you were like me and attempted to drive across the Great Egg Harbor Bay Bridge towards Cape May yesterday, you know it was an absolute mess.

A construction accident caused traffic to be at a stand still, and eventually had only ONE lane open.  It took some unique driving skills to squeeze into the one lane available, and thankfully I didn't damage my new car in the process.

Here's what happened:

A concrete beam intended for the new construction fell onto the southbound span around midnight Wednesday while crews were unloading it from a truck. One worker was injured and thousands of Cape vacationers and motorists were caught for hours in gridlock.  (Press of Atlantic City)

Thankfully all this mess happened on a Wednesday.  Could you imagine if all of this happened on a Saturday? So much for that weekend getaway.

All lanes should be open today, so please drive safe.
