5 Things I Would Rather Do Instead of Jumping in Freezing Cold Water in New Jersey
I'll cheer on the sidelines, I'll donate, but I won't get in that water!
This weekend is one of the most exciting events here at the Jersey Shore - The Polar Bear Plunge at Seaside Heights! A bunch of brave swimmers will be jumping into the water in freezing cold weather. (and just for reference right now, it looks like the weather will be in the upper 30s tomorrow).
JUST LOOK AT THESE BRAVE PEOPLE GO!
I totally give it up to these guys - it's not easy. And of course, they're doing it for a good cause - to benefit The Special Olympics of New Jersey. But I would never be able to get in that water, no matter how quick it is! So like I said, I'll cheer them on (the event is a lot of fun regardless of whether you jump or not), I'll donate from afar, but I can't touch that ocean.
Just for fun, here are some things I would rather do than get in freezing cold water:
I would rather wake up extremely early on a Saturday morning and not have anywhere exciting to go. There's always coffee to wake you up. It takes a long time to warm up from the cold ocean water.
I would rather sit through the worst date I've ever gone on again (and trust me, it was bad).
I would rather sit in summer shore traffic - at least I would be in the comfort of my own car!
I would rather do a child's homework for them. Figuring out Common Core math seems a little easier than braving the frigid beach water.
And finally, I would rather listen to We Don't Talk About Bruno from Encanto on repeat (do you know how easily that song gets stuck in my head?)
If you're taking the plunge this weekend, thank you for all you are doing. I will be cheering you on from afar and in the biggest coat I can find. You absolutely rock.
