I can't get over this story. I had to watch this video twice to believe it was real. A 30-year old North Carolina woman who claims she's identified as blind her whole life is now actually blind on purpose.

Jewel Shuping, who was born perfectly healthy, says she always fantasized about being blind. This brainiac actually found a doctor to assist is taking away her sight. In 2006, Shuping found a psychologist willing to pour drain cleaner in her eyes. The two waited half an hour before seeking medical attention. But the permanent damage was already done and, over the next six months, Shuping's eyesight faded. She has since gradually lost her eyesight and is now almost completely blind.

Shuping tells People.com, "I really feel this is the way I was supposed to be born, that I should have been blind from birth. When I was young, my mother would find me walking in the halls at night. By the time I was 6 I remember that thinking about being blind made me feel comfortable."

Experts believe Shuping suffers from a rare condition called Body Integrity Identity Disorder (BIID) which causes healthy people to believe they are supposed to be disabled.

My question is where is the therapist who thought this was a good idea? I'm hoping that person no longer has a license to practice! It seems outrageous to me.
