Have you or someone you know had that interest in learning what being in law enforcement is all about?

The Toms River Police Public Safety Cadet Unit #137 is currently accepting applications for their program seeking youth ages 14-20 years old.

Through this program youth will be mentored in police work, learn what skills and knowledge it takes to be in law enforcement and gain valuable experience in preparation for a possible career as a police officer and public service.

Cadets will go through bi-weekly law enforcement training including learning CPR/First Aid, Firearms safety, Arrest Search and Seizure, Domestic Violence Responses, Burglary in progress training, motor vehicle stops and physical fitness tests as well as volunteering at township run events.

Through the program, they will be eligible to participate in "ride-a-longs" with sworn law enforcement officers, participate in both state and national conferences and compete against Cadets in various law enforcement scenarios.

If you know someone who would be a good fit for this program, head to the Toms River Police Department at 255 Oak Avenue and pick up an application.
