Second report of shots fired in Toms River this week under investigation
Toms River Police and the Ocean County Prosecutors Office is simultaneously investigating two reported incidents of shots fired after another incident occurred on Tuesday night along Washington Street.
Police Chief Mitch Little and Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer issued a joint statement on Wednesday morning that an investigation is underway into gunshots that were heard around 11:30 pm Tuesday with no reported injuries.
“We are allocating all of our resources to root out the individuals responsible for this brazen lawlessness. This behavior will not be tolerated. I can’t comment on the specifics of this investigation, I can tell you the Detectives are working around the clock to bring the individuals responsible to justice,” Prosecutor Billhimer said in the statement.
“The Toms River Police Department is providing extra patrols and is committed to the safety of our residents," Chief Little said in the statement.
If you have any information on the Tuesday evening shooting, contact Detective Denis Mitchell of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-929-2027 or Detective Daniel Brennan of the Toms River Township Police Department at 732-349-0150.
It's the second shots fired incident within a 48-hour time frame and it's unclear at this point if they are connected or isolated, separate occurrences.
