The Food and Drug Administration is making it harder for teens to achieve sun-kissed skin. They are now requiring people over 18 to verify they are aware of the risks.

New regulations set in place are requiring 18-year-olds to verify they know the possible risk of tanning beds such as skin cancer and other harms. Those under 18 are at a greater risk to suffer from health consequences due to indoor tanning.

According to CNN, tanning-related injuries account for more than 30,000 of ER visits per year. Skin cancer and other skin damage is also known to be caused by indoor tanning. As a result, the FDA is proposing changes to tanning facilities to ensure safety for its users.
