A mother and her 1-year-old son died tragically due to carbon monoxide poisoning from their car's blocked tailpipe as father was shoveling it out.

NBC Philadelphia reports that Sasha Bonilla and her two children went inside the car to keep warm, while Felix Bonilla (her husband) cleared the snow from the car.

According to police, the car's tailpipe was blocked by powder causing carbon monoxide to fill up the car that had Sasha, her 1-year-old son, and her 3-year-old daughter. Typically, when the tailpipe is blocked off, it causes the gas to go inside the car instead.

Felix had stopped his shoveling and noticed his family unconscious inside the car. Unfortunately mother and son passed away, but their daughter was in critical condition. The daughter, Saniyah Bonilla, was transferred to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson, N.J.
