Two women visiting South Jersey from Canada were attacked and stabbed Monday morning in Atlantic City  - both tonight have died.

6 ABC (WPVI) says that police have 44-year-old Antoinette E. Pelzer in police custody.  Police say she has a Pennsylvania driver’s license, but it is not known how long she had been in Atlantic City.  Witnesses say Pelzer was trying to rob one of the victims of her purse.   It’s not known if the victims are related or know each other.

The two visitors to Atlantic City were 80 and 47 - the 47 year old died around 4:15, followed by the 8o year old just after 6pm.  The Press of Atlantic City reports that both women were stabbed multiple times to their upper body around 10am at the intersection of Michigan and Pacific Avenues - that location is right in front of the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Campus.

Police officer Jacob Abbruscato is responsible for the arrest. He allegedly saw Pelzer stabbing the women,  drew his weapon and ordered her to the ground.

No information on the two victims will be released until they reach their families first.  The incident remains under investigation by the Major Crimes Unit of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
