The husband of April Kauffman, the local radio host found shot to death in her Linwood home, has retained an attorney and is cooperating with police, the Press of Atlantic City reports.

James Kauffman, who is an endocrinologist in Linwood, is currently being questioned in the death of his wife, though police have not named him a suspect.  Attorney Ed Jacobs says his client has given a lengthy statement to authorities, and will continue to cooperate.  Jacobs tell the Press taking measures to eliminate a spouse's involvement is a routine process.

"Any good prosecutor will first direct an investigation toward eliminating spouses, boyfriends, girlfriends.  They can expect our complete cooperation throughout."

The doctor's vehicle has been towed from the scene as the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office continues to search for clues.  There were several permitted guns in the couple's home, but investigators haven't disclosed whether one of them was the murder weapon.

SoJO reported last week on the murder of April Kauffman, a local radio talk show host and community volunteer.  We will continue to update you on this developing story.
