Do you want other drivers to think you're competent and not hate you while you drive on the Garden State Parkway? You're in luck, this list will make you a professional at driving on the good old GSP.

How many times have you driven on the Parkway and thought to yourself, "That guy is so stupid," when watching other drivers? I'm going to take a shot in the dark here and say, pretty much every time you drive. The sad fact is, there are so many dumb drivers out there and they seem to congregate on the Parkway. Here is how to not be that guy.

If you are in the left lane you better be driving at least 80 MPH.

Are we telling you to break the law? That's mildly debatable, honestly, it depends on who you ask. If you are driving under 80 MPH in the left-hand lane, you best believe you are about to be tailgated.

Don't be from out of state.

Sorry if you can't avoid this. The moment someone from New Jersey sees a license plate from another state or Quebec, we immediately think you are a terrible driver. Have you realized how many cars from Quebec are in New Jersey in the summer?

Move over for police as they're approaching you.

If you see a cop coming up behind you, move over. Get out of their way, trust me it will end better for you.

On that note, if a car is pulled over on the shoulder, move over.

This is for the safety of everyone involved. If a car is on the shoulder move over, whether it's a cop car, another driver, construction vehicle, etc.

Do not slow down approaching an on ramp.

You are not helping anyone by slowing down. 9 times out of 10 if you were going the speed you were already going you wouldn't be in the way.

The speed limit it a lie.

If you go 55-65 MPH on the Parkway every single other driver will hate you.
