Did You Feel An Earthquake At The Jersey Shore This Weekend
If you felt the ground shaking at the Jersey Shore this weekend, it may not have been traffic, loud music or a party at the beach. It may have been an earthquake.
There were no injuries reported, and as a matter of fact, any earthquake with a magnitude of 2.0 or less is actually considered a "microearthquake" according to whyy.com.
A microearthquake is hardly ever felt, so odds are no one at the Jersey Shore felt it, so I guess the answer to our original question is that the rumble you felt probably was loud music or traffic.
So, when was the last earthquake that could be felt along the Jersey Shore? You might remember it. It took place back in January, and even though it was centered near Ocean City, Maryland, it could be felt at the Jersey Shore. That one was a 4.7.
Ironically enough, this microearthquake took place just as hurricane season kicks off at the Jersey Shore. Great...something else to worry about.
