It's an awesome idea we can't help but praise!

About 100 people in a section of Hoboken, New Jersey get together to share a meal once a month!

The dinners happen at Monroe Gardens, which is a Hoboken Housing Authority property, as a way of uniting the community, NJ.com reports. The food is prepared and served by the residents.

The idea for the neighborhood dinner came about in 2017 after the murder of an 18-year-old man. Homicide was not something Hoboken had experienced in four years up to that point.

Whatever the inspiration, I LOVE THIS. Even in my own neighborhood, it doesn't seem like people get to know each other the way they used to, and it makes me sad. I knew ALL of my neighbors for several streets where I grew up.

Would you like to see more of this kind of socializing go on in your own South Jersey neighborhood? Let us know in the comment box below!
