While it's not unheard of to spot a whale off New Jersey's coastline, it is extremely rare to witness one on the water's surface. A blue whale has been spotted!

Marine Mammal Stranding Center reported the dead whales within Raritan Bay and along the South Fork of Long Island. The two states have seen at least 12 stranded humpbacks this year, combined.

There has been 26 dead dolphins found off the Jersey Shore coast since December after the latest deceased mammal was found in Middletown.

In case you weren't aware, there's been a pretty large number of whales that have washed up on not only New Jersey beaches, but beaches up and down the East Coast.

There seems to be an extra amount of whale activity happening near South Jersey this fall.
