An accident in Gloucester County that took the life of a pedestrian has New Jersey State Police searching for vehicles involved, because not all of them remained at the scene.

The hit-and-run took place Friday morning just before 2:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Route 55 near mile marker 40.9 when a Toyota Corolla struck 26-year-old Ines Hernandez, who was reportedly walking in the left lane, according to Patch.com. The Bridgeton woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Corolla was being driven by 23-year-old Tyler Mason, of Vineland. Mason stayed at the accident site and cooperated with police. But the victim might have also been hit by another vehicle that fled.

Anyone with information, including anonymous tips, is asked to reach out to the Bellmawr Detective Bureau at 856-933-0662.
