Starbucks Tea Drink Brings on 2000s Nostalgia [VIDEO]
Nostalgia is a powerful marketing tool that Starbucks has inadvertently used with their Iced Guava White Tea Lemonade. I don't think they set out for their drink to bring me back to the late 90s/early 2000s, but it sure did. Now all I want to do is drink more of their fruit tea blend.
Back in the late 90s, Snapple came out with a line of drinks called Elements. They were in tall glass bottles and had names that associated with the 4 "elements": Earth, Fire, Sun and Rain. Over the next few years they changed their bottles to metal and added other flavors like volcano, velocity, voltage, meteor, among others. I was obsessed with these drinks. Clearly I am not the only one, there had been a few petitions online to bring these drinks back.
Starbucks has a drink on their featured page on their app, Iced Guava White Tea Lemonade. Rather than my usual order, I opted to try something different. I am so very glad I did. Upon first sip I was snapped back to my childhood drinking the Snapple Elements.
At first I thought it tasted like the Fire drink, but since that one was dragon fruit flavored I am unsure. Nevertheless, it reminded me of the Element drinks which was a great nostalgic moment.
