Washington Township Police Officer Electrocuted at Scene of an Accident
A passing truck hit a utility pole that fell on a police car that just arrived to the scene of an accident early Thursday morning, police say.
The officer that was shocked was Washington Township Police Sgt. Michael Ferris. He was originally called to the scene of a car crash that occurred in Deptford 4 a.m. Thursday morning.
Just after arriving a second crash involving a truck and a utility pole happened. The pole then fell onto the officer's vehicle and produced an electrical shock.
Sgt. Ferris' airbag was deployed and left him with a few injuries on his face. When he tried to reopen the car door after leaving his vehicle Ferris was shocked.
Aside from the minor facial injuries that Ferris received no other injuries were reported in either accident. Both remain under investigation by the police.
