Mt. Holly, NJ’s Own Isabeau Levito Takes Silver Medal in World Figure Skating
A women's figure skater from Mount Holly, New Jersey just placed second at the 2024 World Figure Skating Championships in Montreal.
One of South Jersey's own just stepped up big time for the United States. Or should I say, skated!
17-year-old Isabeau Levito can now officially call herself a silver medalist.
Figure Skater from Mount Holly, NJ Makes it Onto the World Championships Podium
Levito put herself in an excellent position to make the podium at Worlds after turning in a near-perfect short program on Wednesday night in Montreal.
Another powerful performance during the long program competition on Friday night earned Isabeau the silver medal.
She finished with a combined score of 212.16 just behind Japan's Kaori Sakamoto, and just ahead of South Korea's Chaeyeon Kim.
The win for Sakamoto marks her third straight World Championships gold medal.
2024 U.S. Women's Figure Skating gold medalist Amber Glenn was a favorite going into Worlds but missed the podium.
Who is Isabeau Levito?
The teenage Levito, who just recently got her driver's license, represents Skating Club of SJ, and trains at Igloo Ice Rink in Mount Laurel, according to Wikipedia. Levito first became one to watch in the world of women's figure skating after becoming a Junior Champion and then the 2023 U.S. Women's Figure Skating Champion.
