A new hotel that would be home to a rooftop bar could take sunsets and socializing in Cherry Hill to another level. Literally.

Towne Place at Garden State Park, the site of the former Garden State Park racetrack off Route 70, could soon see the development of 140-room lodging, if Cherry Hill Towne Center LLC of Piscataway gets approval for the project, Courier Post reports.

The developer has proposed extending Towne Center Drive out to Haddonfield Rd. to make way for the hotel, on a stretch of land where apartments are currently being built. The plans would be to top the building with a 5,600-square-foot restaurant and bar.

The Garden State Park racetrack closed in 2001, and shortly after was transformed into one of South Jersey's largest shopping and dining plazas, including DSW, Wegmans, Cheesecake Factory, Trader Joe's, Barnes and Noble, and more. It would be easier to think about the stores the shopping center is MISSING than what's already there, lol.

The shopping center added a Costco in late 2020, and a Duluth Trading Co. is reportedly also coming soon, according to Courier Post. A new Old Navy store is also rumored to be part of the next phase that would include the hotel.

Cherry Hill Towne Center LLC's proposal will be officially reviewed by town officials later this month.

I personally hope the hotel with rooftop bar plan gets approved. I don't think there are enough of those in the South Jersey area. I'd love to see another! Sipping cocktails high in the sky, summer or winter, is one of my favorite things to do.

Having said that, if you know of any great rooftop bars in South Jersey or along the Jersey Shore, tell me about them in the comments below!
