Mini Macy’s Store Opening in Cherry Hill, New Jersey Over Memorial Day Weekend

A new kind of Macy's is opening soon in South Jersey and it's a miniature version of the famed department store.

The former Bed Bath & Beyond in Cherry Hill, located in the Garden State Park shopping center off Route 70, is being reworked into a small-scale Macy's store.

It'll reportedly be around a fifth the size of a standard shopping mall Macy's department store at between 30,000 and 50,000 square feet.

According to macysinc.com, these mini-Macy's stores will 'offer a curated assortment of Macy's distinctive fashion, on-trend beauty, luxury fragrances, and more'. There are currently four already up and running in the U.S.

The concept is one that both intrigues me and gives me pause. I've reportedly on numerous occasions over the last year or two that Macy's stores are struggling and that many are due to close. There's currently a full Macy's department store at the Cherry Hill Mall. Side Note: Last time I visited it was THRIVING. Good news, huh?

But I digress. Won't this mini-Macy's disrupt the flow of shoppers at the Cherry Hill Mall location, especially if it's more convenient? I'm guessing the answer is 'no'. The concept has seemingly worked out very well for Nordstrom, also located at Cherry Hill Mall, and nearby Nordstrom Rack at Garden State Park. Nordstrom Rack is a stand-alone discounted version of the Nordstrom department store similar to Marshall's and TJ Maxx.

When Does the Mini Macy's Store in Cherry Hill, NJ Open?

Cherry Hill's new mini-Macy's is due to open May 25th over Memorial Day Weekend. I wonder if it'll be similar to Macy's Last Act.
