Alex Trebek's passing has gotten me back into Jeopardy.  I watched his last show and it made me sad but also re-ignited my interest in the show.  Last week, I noticed our great state of New Jersey made it into an episode, so I dug deeper.

Since 1987,  New Jersey has been part of 677 clues for Jeopardy...give or take.  Clues have ranged from "New Jersey's State Flower" (Blue Violet) to "Bill Bradley and Albert Einstein are in this state's Hall of Fame."  In 2020, the clues and answers were prominent with 15 ties to New Jersey.  How would you do on these?  Let's see.

  7. March 24th in Colonial America - - Hold that tiger! The College of New Jersey was founded in 1746 & would later become this university.
  8. May 18th in Rock Banned - - 1969: New Jersey police seize 30,000 copies of this couple's "Two Virgins" album, which shows them nude on the cover.
  9. June 5th in Some Quarter Given - - Washington is shown crossing the Delaware on the quarter of this state, George's destination.
  10. June 12th in Colorful Cities - - A Southern California city & a Northern New Jersey township share this citrusy name.
  11. September 25th in Traveling on the Interstate - - It's 2,906 miles on I-80 from San Francisco to Teaneck in this state; good thing we've got a full tank of gas.
  12. October 13th in The Not-So-Roaring '30s - -  Lakehurst, New Jersey was the scene of this 1937 disaster.
  13. October 21st in In The State - - Passaic County.
  14. November 9th in A Day At The Races - - The tradition of the yellow jersey being awarded during this race began in 1919; yellow was the color of the newspaper that sponsored it.
  15. December 17th in Audio Dramas - - The infamous 1938 radio adaptation of this H.G. Wells novel moved the action from England to Grovers Mill, New Jersey.
