Luckily for us, most of the eastern part of Atlantic and Cape May counties suffered little to no damage from Ida. Seven tornadoes tore through both New Jersey and Pennsylvania during the height of the storm, including Burlington and Gloucester counties, according to ABC 7 New York.

A Maine resident is thankful to be alive thanks to a New Jersey farmer and friend who rescued him by tractor, and floodwaters were rising a swirling around his pickup truck, according to 6 ABC.

Richard Peek was caught in raging floodwaters in Hunterdon County in North Jersey. Peek was on his way to see his buddy, New Jersey farmer Wesley Pandy. Peek also live-streamed the terrifying ordeal and amazing rescue on his YouTube channel.

Peek was rescued by his farmer friend with a tractor as the floodwaters rose to extremely dangerous levels. Peek's next option before being rescued was to get out and get on top of his truck. I'm amazed at how calm Peek remains while the floodwaters rage and rise around him.

Peek is back at home thanks to Pandy's rescue, and I'm sure Peek will never forget the brave actions of his now lifetime friend.

In just a few hours the remnants from Ida spawned three tornadoes, dropped between 8 and 10 inches of rain, left over two dozen people dead and plunged thousands into darkness.
