Hopewell Twp., NJ Man Who Drowned in Bridgeton, NJ Lake Identified
Police have identified the victim as Hopewell Township, New Jersey resident Marco Lemus-Giron.
Bridgeton Police Department issued a warning to the public after it became known that Lemus-Giron and friends had gone swimming in Sunset Lake (off Park Dr. West near Cohanzick Zoo) after lifeguards went off duty. Their statement said, "Police are urging that visitors avoid swimming in the lake absent life guards as this is not the first drowning involving swimmers entering the water when life guards are not present."
The accidental drowning of Marco Lemus-Giron was the second in two days in South Jersey. On Saturday afternoon, a 19-year-old male died after he drowned in Elk Township, NJ's Lake Garrison.
My thoughts are with the loved ones of both victims at this heartbreaking time. Please take precautions when swimming, no matter if it's at a pool, a lake, or in the ocean.
