A local school board approved a measure this week that will allow eligible home schooled students to play sports at the district high school starting this spring.

The unanimous vote in Egg Harbor Township came after months of discussion and review, Press of Atlantic City reports.

Under the policy 'parents must notify the school principal of their desire to have their child play for a sports team'. The student would be required to go through the same trying-out process as students attending the school. Parents will also have to show that the home schooled student is doing academic work equivalent to that grade level to be eligible to play.
