A local police officer likely saved a Mays Landing resident's life on Monday night by springing into action in the nick of time....

Officer Scott Krissinger of Cape May noticed a truck on Sunset Blvd had caught fire, and immediately came to the aid of a 61-year old man named Gerald K. Ferrill of Mays Landing.

As the truck engulfed in flames, Mr. Ferrill was brought to safety.

'Ferrill was airlifted to Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Pennsylvania. Sheehan said he is in critical but stable condition.

Sheehan said the incident is still under investigation, but witnesses reported the truck may have had a flat tire before catching fire and loud noises were coming from the engine compartment. He said the heat and smoke came into the cab of the 2005 Chevrolet Colorado and overcame Ferrill.'

Here's the footage from the officer's dash cam....
