Local Mother of Five Killed in Car Accident on Delilah Road

Tragedy struck in Egg Harbor Township yesterday afternoon....

A mother of five was killed in a car accident on Delilah Road.  The accident also injured her niece and her niece's two year old son.

Thelma H. Torres was only 35, and her five children ranged between the ages of 12 and 18.

According to the Press of Atlantic City, her 21 year old niece was driving the car east on Delilah Road when the car experienced a mechanical problem, causing the car to cross into the oncoming lane. The vehicle then hit another car, which rested on top of Torres' vehicle, causing her to be trapped.

Firefighters and EMT's managed to free Torres, but by the time she made it to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, she was pronounced dead.
