A two-car accident last night led to one arrest, and multiple injured, including a five-month old baby.

In Hamilton Township, 46-year-old Juan Matta, of Mays Landing, was traveling South on Route 50, when he disregarded the red light and crashed into the side of a 2009 Nissan Sedan. After crashing into the Nissan, Matta’s vehicle, a 2001 GMC work van, traveled over the grass median, across both North Bound Lanes and into a tree. (NBC 40)

There were three people in the Nissan that were injured, and transported immediately to the Atlantic City Hospital City Division Trauma Unit for moderate injuries. Juan Matta was also injured, but he refused treatment.  Instead of the hospital, he was transported to jail.

Matta was driving while under the influence. He was later charged with refusal to submit to a breathalyzer, assault by auto, failure to stop at red light, and other related charges.
