Many people in New Jersey where shocked by a huge flash of light in the sky, Tuesday night October 4, 2016 around 10:30. Turned out to be a darned big meteor!

The meteor is debris from Halley's Comet say scientists, and caused some people to call 911, fearing the tremendous streak of light was possibly an airplane crash. Nope, just a meteor.


Here is a timelapse video of the meteor. It's only a quick flash, because the video is sped up (timelapse).

The video and still photo were captured by the UTSC Observatory in Toronto, Canada. People from as wide an area as Toronto to Michigan to Virginia reported seeing it.
