Good Idea for Dating Couple?

Listener Brian in EHT is a little worried about taking the next step in his relationship with his girlfriend Darcy.

Darcy wants to take their 6 month relationship to the next level and buy a dog together. She lives in an apartment where no dogs are allowed, and until her lease runs out and they move in together, the dog would have to stay with Brian.

Brian is totally into Darcy, but has never even thought about getting a dog of his own. He told us that he knows it would show a real level of commitment to her if they got a dog together, but they have only been dating 6 months...now she's talking about getting a dog...and even moving in together once her lease is up?
