This place is completely isolated and very creepy. It is the abandoned Fish Factory on Crab Island in Little Egg Inlet, built about 1930.

It was used to process the very oily and extremely smelly menhaden fish, which were used for oil and fertilizer, among other things.

Work on the island was said to be isolated and hard, with the awful smell of the fish and the greenheads adding to the difficult working conditions.

The factory was closed in the late 1960s, and has fallen into a state of decay ever since.

Here is another history place in South Jersey, just a few miles inland from the Fish Factory. It's the historic home of the Jersey Devil legend. I call it The Jersey Devil House.
