Ebose Eigbe, the 12-year old crowned champion of the Townsquare Media South Jersey Spelling Bee (seen here in this photo to the right of Heather DeLuca), was eliminated in the third round of national competition yesterday in Washington D.C..

The sixth grader from Roland Rogers Elementary School in Galloway Township correctly spelled the word 'exophthalmic' (meaning a protrusion of the eyeball), but failed to earn enough points for his talent to secure him a place in the semifinals of the Scripps National Spelling Bee, reports the Press Of Atlantic City.

Ebose won the right to represent South Jersey after winning a local bee earlier this year.

SoJO 104.9 and Townsquare Media of Northfield was pleased to sponsor his adventure to the nation's capitol, and congratulate Ebose on his incredible skills, and for making it that far!  You made us proud!
