Fundraiser Launched For Teen Who Died in Basketball Game
Residents in Paulsboro are raising money to help pay the funeral of a 16-year-old boy who suddenly died during a basketball game on Thursday evening.
NJ.com reports, that Derrius Moore collapsed during a pick-up basketball game on Thursday evening. Witnesses report that he was with other kids at a popular hangout spot in Paulsboro, and had been playing nonstop.
During the game, Moore suddenly collapsed. After attempts using CPR and an automated debrillator, the 16-year-old was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Now community members are gathering to help his mother pay for the funeral using a GoFundMe page.
The funeral is to be held Friday at Paulsboro Second Baptist Church. So far $5,314 has been raised, and they are more than halfway to their $8,000 goal.
Sad news to read, but happy to see a community coming together in a time of need.
