A vote by the Voorhees Township Committee seems to be clearing the way for a potential revival of the former Echelon Mall.

A measure to condemn parts of the Voorhees Town Center passed unanimously on Monday night, and may involve the use of Eminent Domain to force a sale of the mostly vacant space, Philly.com reports. The Town Center, located off Somerdale Road and Burnt Mill Road, is also home to a former Macy’s location and a substantial parking lot.

Mario DiNatale, Director of Community and Business Development for Voorhees, tells Courier Post that the Township Committee is preparing to hear proposals from three developers on ideas for the space.

The stretch of restaurants on the Town Center premises, such as Iron Hill Brewery, will not be affected, nor will the condominium complex.

Ah, if only they'd bring back Merry Go Round and Pasta.
