Definitive Ranking of Jersey Shore Boardwalk Foods
Summer usually brings a few changes to our diet. Most of these changes are caused because the seasonal eateries on the boardwalk open their doors for the summer treating us to some of the best food. Personally, I would rather have boardwalk food over a 5-star restaurant. There is something about coming off of the beach, salty and sandy, and eating a huge slice of boardwalk pizza. Of course, that pizza has to be washed down with a large cold lemonade.
While I could have asked you how you would rank boardwalk food, I took it upon myself to do the honors. I feel like I have enough experience in this to make a definitive ranking. You may disagree, but I am pretty confident in this list.
Whether you have curly fries, crinkle fries, or butterfly fries, the saltiness of the fries match the saltiness on your skin. Just watch out for those gulls.
Disclaimer: I am from Toms River, so I call this Italian ice. The cold, fruity treat is a yummy way to cool off on those hot summer days.
This one was hard to place. Don't get me wrong I love a good funnel cake, but sometimes it feels like it lacks substance and you feel empty after you eat it.
Johnson's Popcorn is so addicting. You start eating it and the next thing you know it's all gone. You can't blame the gulls for this one, this one is on you.
For me, this is very specific. It's not summer until I have a chocolate, vanilla twist with chocolate sprinkles on a cone from Kohrs.
If I'm going for a fried treat, it's going to be fried Oreos. They are a guilty pleasure of mine that I can never get enough of. Before you say fried [insert candy bar here] or fried cookie dough is better, you're wrong.
Fresh squeezed boardwalk lemonade is the BEST! You know it's good lemonade if there is about a tablespoon of sugar sitting at the bottom when you are all finished.
Could there even be anything else at #1? The answer is no. Boardwalk pizza is the perfect thickness, super cheesy, and gigantic. You only need to eat one slice of pizza and you're full.
