Come next month, Clementon Park and Splash World could be bought by new owners who decide to revive the amusement park or completely redevelop the space.

The park is scheduled to be auctioned off on March 23rd, 6abc.com reports.

As someone born and raised in Camden County, it's an outcome that breaks my heart. Clementon Park was a staple of my childhood. My mom worked at Clementon Elementary School for more than 15 years. I'd often work there as a volunteer in their summer student program, and our end-of-season outings were a visit to Clementon Park for a day of fun, riding the Jack Rabbit roller coaster until we were dizzy.

Although I haven't spent time at Clementon Park or Splash World in recent years, since I moved to Atlantic County, it was always pretty awesome knowing that my hometown area had its own amusement park. It was local fun that saved you a trip to the Jersey shore. Established more than 100 years ago, Clementon Park, which sits on over 52 acres, was and always will be a true South Jersey landmark.

But that will all change next month. The park, which has been closed since 2019, will go on the block. The rides, concession stands, everything on site, will be included the auction.

A listing on Capital Recovery Group's website reads, "All park furnishings and support equipment including over 300 assorted configuration picnic tables with attached benches in steel frame and wood, food prep and concession equipment, maintenance equipment, and much more!"

Rides featured in the listing include: Thunder Drop, Ring of Fire loop ride (my personal favorite), Sea Dragon arc swing ride, Tilt-a-Whirl, and Flying Elephants circular ride.

There is a liquor license attached to Clementon Park and Splash World that could be sold separately.

So, we'll have to wait and see if whoever bids to buy the amusement park revives it to its former glory, or turns it into something else.
