Camden was playing an away game at Pleasantville High School last year when a shooting occurred that claimed the life a 10 year-old boy named Micah Tennant and injured several others.

Savage's heroism in securing the safety of the his players, plus his initiative in having the game against Pleasantville replayed at Lincoln Financial Field encouraged the Eagles to nominate him for this year's Don Shula NFL High School Coach of the Year.

Savage told 6abc.com, "It's a great honor, especially being the fact that I'm an Eagles fan since I was a little kid. And coming from the Eagles it's like something you can't believe".

Savage and the other Coach of the Year nominees have been invited to the NFL's Pro Bowl in Orlando, Florida January 26th where the winner will be announced. The winner receives $10,000 and his or her high school's football program will get $15,000.
