Update: Mays Landing Man Arrested For False Bomb Threat
The Woodlands Condominium Complex in Mays Landing was evacuated at 10 a.m. Monday morning after a suspicious device was spotted. This afternoon police arrested one of the condo's residents for planting the fake explosive.
PressofAtlanticCity.com reports the device was found near a mail box on Rhododendron Court. The Hamilton Township Police Department Bomb Squad arrived and determined the package to be a dummy.
An investigation quickly led authorities to 55-year old John Carretta, who was seen standing with other evacuated residents and watching as his handywork was examined.
Carretta now faces charges of creating a false public alarm (a second-degree crime) and maintaining a public nuisance.
