Attempted Murder: Woman Stabbed in Little Egg Harbor
A 38-year-old woman was stabbed at a residence in Little Egg Harbor Township early Monday morning - her boyfriend has been charged with attempted murder.
Little Egg Harbor Township Police say they responded shortly after midnight to a Buckhorn Lake Court address for the report of a stabbing. There they found a woman "with multiple lacerations and stab wounds on, and around her neck."
Police say she was taken to the community center by Great Bay Regional Ambulance Service, then airlifted to the Atlantic City Medical Center. She was originally in stable condition, but has since been released.
Little Egg Harbor Police say the suspect, Calvin Smith, 36, of Little Egg Harbor, fled the scene before police arrived. He was later arrested without incident.
Police say Smith is the boyfriend of the victim. He's been charged with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, and weapons charges. Police say he is currently being held in a hospital and will be later taken to the Ocean County Jail.
No other details have been released. The incident remains under investigation.
