A recent killing in Pleasantville puts Atlantic County on a pace to eclipse a number nobody wants to see - a higher number of homicides than the year before.

The Press of Atlantic City reports that there have been 21 homicides in Atlantic County this year (including Monday night's killing of 42-yr-old Willie Hogans Jr.) - last year at this time there were 4 less murders, and this year is just 3 away from eclipsing last year's numbers.

This shooting is the 4th homicide this year in Pleasantville, which includes a double shooting that killed 2 brothers back in January.  According to record, there were only 4 homicides all of last year in Pleasantville.

Monday night's incident happened in the East Lindsay Avenue area of Pleasantville.
