6 Vehicles Have Been Stolen in 8 Days in Absecon, NJ

Police in Absecon, New Jersey have issued a warning to residents after a recent rash of vehicle thefts there. 

If you live in or around Absecon and drive a Hyundai or Kia, be extra cautious.

Absecon Police Department reports that six vehicles have been stolen over eight days in the city, all Hyundais or Kias.

An investigation into the thefts is ongoing. If you have any information regarding the recent thefts, or you witness suspicious activity, police ask that you call 9-1-1 in emergency situations or the department's non-emergency line at 609-641-0667.

None of the cars and SUV's stolen had a push button start feature, according to police.

Absecon Police advise residents to make sure their vehicles are locked at all times and to stow any valuables kept inside, particularly Kia and Hyundai owners.

Kia recommends owners make an appointment at their nearest Kia dealership to have their vehicle's security software updated, at no cost, according to a press release issued by Absecon PD.

Similarly, Hyundai owners can visit this website and enter their vehicle's VIN number to see if their model is eligible for an anti-theft security software upgrade.

According to Absecon Police, over the last few months the same kind of thefts have been reported in other parts of Atlantic County.
