2 NJ Residents Sick After Eating Contaminated Ground Turkey
An national outbreak of salmonella traced back to ground turkey has sickened two people here in New Jersey.
The contamination involves more than 200,000 lbs. of ground turkey produced by Plainville Brands, Nature's Promise, and Wegman, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service, reports Patch.com.
More than two dozen cases of salmonella poisoning have been confirmed in 12 states since late December, Patch.com reports.
Centers for Disease Control says the two New Jersey residents who got sick from eating the contaminated ground turkey had to be hospitalized for treatment.
If you're concerned you may have purchased or consumed any of the ground turkey involved in this salmonella outbreak, here are the specific packages involved, according to Patch.com:
- 1 lb. packages of Plainville Farms Ground White Turkey 93 percent | 7 percent Fat with 'Use by/freeze/sell by date of 1/10/21'.
- 1 lb. packages of Nature's Promise Free from 94 percent LEAN | 6 percent FAT Ground Turkey with 'Use by/freeze/sell by' date of 1/1/21, 1/3/21,1/4/21, 1/8/21 and 1/10/21.
- 1 lb. packages of Wegman 94 percent LEAN | 6 percent FAT Ground Turkey with 'Use by/freeze/sell by' date of 1/3/21, 1/4/21, 1/8/21 and 1/10/21.
- 3 lb. packages of Wegman 94 percent LEAN | 6 percent FAT Ground Turkey with Use by/freeze/sell by date of 1/3/21, 1/4/21, 1/8/21 and 1/10/21.
