Uh oh! Trader Joe's stores have recalled a healthy snack over concerns it could be contaminated with salmonella.
My go-to snack from Trader Joe's is their 50% Less Salt Roasted & Salted Whole Cashews. I like the taste and the energy these nuts give me, and they're salted JUST enough to give them some flavor but not make me feel bad. They're delicious.
I haven't bought any of my favorite cashews from Trader Joe's lately, and that's probably a good thing.
Trader Joe's has just recalled that very snack over contamination concerns.
What Trader Joe's Cashews Have Been Recalled?
According to Trader Joe's, 50% Less Salt Roasted & Salted Whole Cashews with Lot No: T12139 - Best Before Feb 21 2025, Lot No: T12140 - Best Before Mar 01 2025, Lot No: T12141 - Best Before Mar 08 2025, Lot No: T12142 - Best Before Mar 10 2025 all fall under the current recall and may be contaminated with the bacteria salmonella.

According to the Food & Drug Administration, salmonella in the human body can bring on nausea, diarrhea, fever, vomiting, and belly pain.
The FDA says bacteria are particularly harmful to young kids, the elderly, and those who are immunocompromised.
Are the Nuts I Bought from Trader Joe's in New Jersey Contaminated?
It's very unlikely that the cashews falling under this current recall are contaminated. According to 6abc.com, the recalled nuts were sold in 16 states, but not New Jersey. Still, there's no harming in checking yours if you have a batch in your pantry.
Locally, Trader Joe's has stores in Marlton, Cherry Hill, and Philadelphia.
