The Jersey coast will be the home of a 1,110-megawatt wind-energy farm. The $1.6 billion project will begin in either 2022 or 2023. The wind farm was approved by state regulators on Friday according to the Asbury Park Press.

15 miles off of the Atlantic City Coast will be the home of this new wind farm. APP reported, "The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities chose Ocean Wind, a proposal by Danish energy company Ørsted and supported by PSEG Power..." The 1,100-megawatt wind farm will produce enough power over 500,000 homes.

According to the article, "State officials said the project will generate $1.17 billion in economic benefits and 15,000 jobs over the life of the project."

This is just one of multiple wind farms to be built off of the New Jersey coast planned out by Governor Phil Murphy. Governor Murphy plans to have enough wind farms to produce 3.500-megawatts of energy be 2030. By 2050, Governor Murphy wants New Jersey to be on 100% clean energy.

The turbines are to be no closer than 15 miles off the coast as to not have much of a visual impact.
